Who We Are
Shreveport residents, Taylor and Brittany Griffin, lost their 4 year old son, Jackson, after a tragic accident. While playing in his room, Jackson climbed his dresser, which held a 27 inch tube television. The weight of Jackson’s body caused the dresser to fall forward which, in turn, caused his TV to fall on him. This caused a traumatic brain injury that Jackson succumbed to in the following days. After this tragedy, the Shreveport community came together to offer help and support to Jackson’s family. The family was so touched by the outreach of the community that they decided to start the Jackson Griffin Memorial Fund, now known as Jackson’s Wish, to honor Jackson, and to give back to the community for their support during such a tragic time. It is the wish of the organization that Jackson’s legacy will live on through the monetary donations to the funerals of children, as well as through prevention and awareness of future furniture and television toppling accidents.
Our Mission
It is Jackson’s wish that no other child is lost due to unsecured furniture or televisions. Jackson’s Wish is a nonprofit organization whose board of directors put forth time and effort to make the community aware of the dangers of unsecured televisions and furniture. The fund has partnered with a local Shreveport contractor to help anchor and mount furniture and televisions, at little to no cost, in homes with small children. The board also makes donations to families who have lost a child, aged 18 or younger in most circumstances, to help cover any expenses or debts incurred from the child’s death. It is our goal to save as many children as possible through the awareness and preparedness, as well as help any families who have lost a child and are trying to get through one of the hardest things that a parent can ever be faced with.
How We Do It
Jackson’s Wish relies on donations from the community. We accept any form of donation that helps our cause. Whether it be monetary, mounts and/or anchors for furniture and TV’s, or just the time of an individual that wants to help. Each year Jackson’s Wish holds an annual golf tournament in memory of Jackson. All proceeds from the tournament are used to make funeral expense donations, and to purchase mounts and anchors for families that cannot afford them.
